about

A dark ambient journey around the inter-dimensional planet Yves VI and its eight most distinct moons.

In 2167CE, due to increased interest and funding in space exploration across the globe, the World Space Administration established a timeline for making contact outside the Milky Way galaxy. Through their efforts in expanding research, a strange new galaxy was accidentally discovered beyond the known limits of our universe, more than 24 billion light years away. The first planet of this newly-discovered galaxy was an anomalous utopian monolith 1.22 times the size of Jupiter, surrounded by at least seven confirmed moons, although scientists believe, based on its size and context, there could be as many as 300 moons and other satellites orbiting the newly-dubbed Yves VI.

Rojimaru: the first moon discovered by Japanese scientists based on the Ryuku Islands, Rojimaru has a surface size roughly that of our own moon. It is uniquely split by a chasm not unlike Mars' Valles Marineris. Depending on its location in orbit, either side of the chasm alternates tepid and unlivable conditions.

Unndi: a small moon relative to the colossal Yves VI, Unndi was discovered in 2170 by scientists in Kolkata, India. It holds a dusty, quiet atmosphere, punctuated by short-lived chemical rainstorms. The surface is peppered by sharp peaks and valleys, as parts of the moon are slowly shearing away to become part of the planet's growing halo.

T'jrest: Finnish and German scientists working in tandem originally misidentified what would become known as T'jrest as an orbiting mass of space junk shorn off from an ancient meteor. Later they discovered massive, waterlogged caves and crevasses. The largest subterranean cavity sits relatively close to the core, and takes up roughly 30% of the moon's mass. Besides water, T'jrest is made up of mostly lead and nickel.

Ecco Fortisi: The first of Yves VI's moons to be officially named, Ecco Fortisi also has the largest diameter of the planet's known satellites. Its iron-rich surface is plagued by incessant and severe molten metal storms, making it incredibly difficult to study. The core is thought to be solid and mostly metal in composition.

THk320: The as-yet-unnamed THk320 is a dry, pock-marked, desolate moon. Its dense atmosphere allows very little light to reach the surface.

Æon 13-b: Greek scientists identified this moon two months after Yves VI was discovered. Its waterlogged surface is verdant and thought to be mostly capable of sustaining human life. Æon 13-b is the farthest known moon from the planet's atmosphere.

Obilium Terranium: A dark, metallic moon with a dense sulfuric atmosphere, Obilium Terranium's surface is lead-rich and cavernous. Its subterranean composition is almost entirely ice. Scientists believe that billions of years ago it may have been an oceanic paradise.

Tristan and Iseult: Tristan and Iseult are unique in that they are the first confirmed instance of "twin moons". Tristan is the most massive moon in Yves VI's orbit. It is similar in composition to our own Neptune, with a methane and helium atmosphere. Iseult is essentially a gas giant, comprised of only 12% solid matter. It is stuck in orbit around the massive moon Tristan, being pulled into its atmosphere by the planet's gravity. It is believed the two planets will merge eventually, creating a moon larger than Ecco Fortisi.
